  • Amar Mohammed Ali, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Dr Amar Mohammed Ali is an experienced clinician and Principal Investigator with a broad background in acute, community, and research-based medicine. Throughout his clinical career, he has worked across a range of healthcare settings, developing expertise in patient assessment, diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary care. His clinical experience has provided a strong foundation for his research leadership, enabling him to bridge the gap between frontline patient care and the generation of high-quality clinical evidence.

    As a Principal Investigator, Dr Ali has extensive experience leading late phase clinical trials across dermatology, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, and vaccines. He has served as Principal Investigator on numerous international multicentre studies involving conditions such as plaque psoriasis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, asthma, COPD, and vaccine-preventable diseases. He has also held the role of National Chief Investigator for a UK multicentre COPD study, providing scientific and operational leadership across participating research sites.
    In addition to his clinical and research responsibilities, Dr Ali has significant experience in protocol implementation, patient recruitment, informed consent, safety oversight, regulatory compliance, staff training, and quality management. He regularly collaborates with sponsors, CROs, investigators, and healthcare professionals to ensure the successful delivery of complex clinical studies while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and scientific integrity.

    Dr Ali is passionate about advancing medical knowledge through clinical research and is particularly interested in the development of innovative therapies and vaccines that improve patient outcomes and address unmet healthcare needs.

  • Alison Elliott-Garwood

    Site Director
    Alison Elliott-Garwood has joined Velocity as Director, Clinical Sites and lives in Cardiff, Wales. She is a senior clinical research leader with over eight years of experience in site-level clinical operations, including leadership of multiple research sites, complemented by more than 20 years of commercial and operational management experience. She has successfully led high-performing research centres with full accountability for operational delivery, financial performance, regulatory compliance, patient recruitment strategies, and team development. Alison has extensive expertise across study start-up, feasibility assessments, budget management, sponsor and CRO partnerships, and the oversight of Phase II–IV clinical trials. Known for exceeding recruitment targets, driving operational excellence, and maintaining the highest standards of ICH-GCP compliance and patient care, she is recognised for her strategic leadership, financial acumen, and ability to scale research operations to support organisational growth.

  • Judith Mackay, MBBS PhD MRCP

    Principal Investigator
    After earning a PhD in Immunology, Dr. Mackay spent five years working in the pharmaceutical industry in clinical pharmacology and medical affairs. Since 2004, she has been involved in clinical trials in academic settings and with site organisations. She has extensive experience as an investigator in research areas including vaccine, cardiovascular disease, lipid lowering, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, gastroenterology, migraine, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and dermatology studies. Her NHS general medicine experience includes registrar rotations in general medicine, gastroenterology, and nephrology. She has also worked at the associate specialist and honorary clinical consultant levels in respiratory medicine and cardiovascular disease prevention.

  • Ronnie Beboso, MD

    Medical Director, Principal Investigator
    Ronnie has been working in the Pharmaceutical Industry with about 20 years of experience in Clinical Research across early- to late-phase clinical development. He previously worked as a Senior Clinical Research Physician acting as Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials, bringing extensive leadership and scientific expertise to the role. Ronnie has great experience leading and line-managing site physicians, providing strategic medical oversight and supporting the successful delivery of complex clinical programs.
